A Preliminary Theory of Telecommunications Enhanced Communities
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper introduces the concept of a Telecommunications Enhanced Community (TEC). The TEC is a community which has a variable mix of real and telecommunications services for reasons of community sustainability. Some telecommunications services may be dispensed with if a population increase results from successful implementation. We examine a number of theories that can support such a concept and attempt to integrate a number to model the TEC.

Telecommunications Enhanced Communities are geo-political communities such as regions, towns and cities, which have superimposed upon them, an internetmediated virtual community. In Australia, as elsewhere, in the name of regional sustainability, governmental policy has encouraged regional communities to make use of telecommunications generally and the internet specifically to remediate service...
متن کاملComposite Cavity Fiber Laser with Asymmetric Output Intensity and Wavelength
The composite cavity fiber laser (CCFL) is relatively simple in its fabrication, as it is essentially three wavelength matched Bragg gratings in a section of doped fiber. By using internal feedback with unequal sub-cavity lengths, unidirectional CCFLs with significantly asymmetric output power from its two outputs can be achieved. Preliminary results also show that it is possible for the lasing...

متن کاملInformation seeking in inquiry-based learning pedagogy: Proposing a preliminary model
Background and Aim: This study attempts to propose a suggestive model for theorising in the field of Inquiry-Based Information Behaviour (IBiB). Method: To achieve the research aim, Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory, Dewey’s Constructivist Theory, as well as IBL Pedagogy were analysed. Taking into account the current information behaviour models and theories which are developed based on th...
متن کاملTowards Virtual Communities in Rural Australia1
The farming community, in many parts of Australia, is widely dispersed and heavily dependent upon communication both within the community and outside. In this preliminary paper we explore the information needs and information flows of the rural sector and consider the farm as the potential focus of a virtual community. A virtual community may form a basis both for electronic commerce, in the tr...
